Breville BEW600XL Hot Wok - An Electric Wok For Easy Family Sized Wok Cooking

Can Wok Cooking Be Made Even Easier?

I love the way a gas stove cooks! The even flames make the pans heat just right! An electric wok can give you that same kind of cooking surface in countertop form. The Breville 1500 Watt Hot Wok is an investment worth making when it comes to trying out popular Asian recipes or stir frying fast and easy dishes.

ELECTRIC

The Breville Wok has a Versatile Lid

The clear glass lids offers a nice change as woks normally don't come with any lid at all much less a glass one! The translucent surface offers a nice viewing area for your creations. (When it's not completely steamed over or slashed from oils and such!)

The tight fitting lid is dishwasher safe and also features an easy to grip handle. While the knob is on the lid itself, it remains cool to the touch which is great for the unfortunate those that have grabbed a hot handle. (I know I have!)

The Cook 'n' Look lid is a nice touch to an already precision cooking wok. The lid doesn't just let you see what you're cooking it's also a great way to steam dishes. The lid features a venting unit that can be opened by turning the handle. Release steam and easily steam seasoned veggies or rolls.

This is a Big, Hot Gourmet Wok

The good has to come with the bad. The Breville Hot Wok is big. It's really BIG. This is great for making meals for the family fast but not great for small kitchens or those with small cabinets. While the unit is real estate worth investing in, if you do not heat resist countertops consider investing in some sort of heat matt.

The Breville Hot Wok heats up to a considerable heat of 1500 watts. (This is HOT, folks! 425 degrees F) with the amount of use the hot wok is getting, it's safe to say you will probably want to protect your counter!

The Breville Hot Wok has a unique feature on its cord, making up for all of its flaws. The 'O' ring makes it easy to unplug and is large enough for enough larger hands. The well-insulated cord is also a considerable length, making it possible not to have to be on top of an outlet in order to use the unit.

The Breville Wok is Well Worth the Investment

Whether you are entertaining or cooking for the family, the Breville Hot Wok is a kitchen appliance worth its weight. Stir frying foods is made easy with the multi settings and the see thru lid is a feature that is quite hard to top!

Electric And Gas Cooking - Which Is Better?

Electric and gas are the primary means for cooking. Although there are still some great places for buying wood fired pizza or wood baked bread, very few people use anything other than gas and electric for their cooking needs. Some of you may have seen the infrared grills that speed up the outdoor cooking and some applications have been developed for the personal kitchen.

Occasionally you may come across and appliance that offers you both electric and gas, like the item pictured above, but for the most part we are forced to choose between the two options when we purchase our appliances.

ELECTRIC

Most people who have been trained in cooking prefer a gas cook top. The issue of controlling the heat to a very specific level. The argument of electric and gas is not just about the level of heat it is also relevant to the timing of the heat. With gas you are able to turn a burner to a certain level and have almost instantaneous heat. With electric heat you are forced to let the heating element arrive at the level of heat you need and then you are almost certain to have too much heat and when you turn it off you will have high levels of eat for many minutes longer than you need. This can be very destructive when you are making a hollandaise sauce or anything that is sensitive to precise levels of heat.

I love to cook but I am not a pastry chef and really dislike baking of any kind. My wife who loves baking has a very strong opinion about electric and gas. She strongly prefers electric oven for baking cakes and bread. The issue is that you need a consistent temperature for a longer amount of time. Gas has a hard time maintaining a precise temp in the oven for a long time. The space in an oven is larger than the surface of pan or skillet on a single burner on the cook top.

Recently we saw a home that had the perfect setup. On the island in the kitchen was a 5 burner gas cook top and in the built in cabinets was a double electric oven. It seems like in the electric and gas discussion that perhaps this is the overall best solution. Using both of the sources of energy for what the area in which they perform optimally.

Benefits of Gas Cooking Stoves

When you take a look at most of the common kitchen cooking appliances, then you are sure to recognize the look of the standard oven that has a stove range on the top. With most units, the stove range is electric, meaning that there is no kind of gas used to heat the burners. While this is very common in most households, it is certainly not the only way to go about cooking on a stove top. You can also use something called a gas cooking stove, which is perfect for cooking food the old fashioned way that is similar to cooking over a flame.

How are gas cooking stoves different from all of the other ones?

LOWES

There are a few differences, but perhaps the biggest one is that gas stoves give you greater control during the cooking process. If you have ever tried cooking things over a stove top, then you certainly know that you often have to adjust the temperature of the burner to keep things cooking the right way. If you are using an electric oven, then there is a bit of a delay when you take the temperature from high down to low. This is because the burners need a few seconds to cool down in order for the temp change to take place.

This does not happen with gas cooking ranges. They use real flames to heat the bottom of the pots and pans. This is great because when you adjust the cooking heat the changes take place right away. There is not delay and you do not have to wait at all for the heat to go up or down.

On top of that, you can also depend on these gas stoves when the electricity goes out. If there is a bad snowstorm or a thunderstorm that knocks out the power, all you have to do is use the gas stove like you would any other time. This is definitely a benefit because it will make you more prepared to deal with something like this if it ever happens.

You can get them at any store such as Lowes, Sears, Home Depot, etc. Go to one of these stores and check out the selection to see if this may be a good choice for you. Other good places to look at Amazon, Overstock, eBay, and other online sites that offer a good selection of units that are both new and used.
